Position Title: Employer Relations Assistant (Part Time, Temporary)

Description: To provide administrative support within the Employer Relations Team (ERT). Much of this work will involve processing vacancies and responding to employer enquiries primarily by phone and email.

This role is a part time fixed term role 5 days a week (10am to 2pm, Monday – Friday) starting Monday 31 July for 6 weeks.  Flexibility in times may be required.  Pay will be via the University Payroll at a rate of £9.70 per hour.

Responsibilities/duties: The workload on the office can be demanding, requiring personal organisation and flexibility as well as an ability to work to deadlines. The post-holder will have the following key responsibilities:

Liaising positively by email and phone with employers to support their engagement with the Careers Service. Referring on messages as appropriate in a professional and timely manner.

Clerical and administrative duties including vacancy processing.

Occasional work on reception may be required.

The post holder will undertake such other comparable tasks and project work as may be reasonably required.

Selection Criteria

Essential

Team Work – able to work flexibly and supportively with other staff in the Careers Service, in response to varying workload demands and changing priorities.

Communication – Excellent customer service skills, able to speak to employers on the telephone in a confident, positive and articulate manner. Able to produce e-mails to a high standard, in an appropriate tone, ensuring a high level of accuracy/attention to detail.

Attitude – Self-motivated and confident. Comfortable working independently, with minimal supervision, but also as an effective and supportive team player.

Time Management – Demonstrates excellent time management skills, attention to detail, and proven ability to meet deadlines.

Office Skills – Excellent skills in office IT systems, including Word/Excel, email, the internet and vacancy systems (CareerConnect). Previous experience in our CareerConnect is not expected – training will be given – but a willingness and ability to learn new systems is essential.
