NCEWP is one of the three national competitions being held by IAPT every year. The competition is open to participants in two categories viz., students and teachers (including Science Communicators). Please note the change in the competition format, as given below.
Category A – students of higher secondary /Jr.- College, UG and PG classes, Students will not submit their entries directly to the Coordinator. There will be a preliminary competition in each of the Regional Councils IAPT RC -1 to RC – 22, on the same topic. The top three (03) entries from each RC will be finally sent up by the RC for the National Competition.
Category B – teachers of higher secondary/Jr. College, UG and PG institutions, also Science Communicators working in recognized institutions. Participants in category B can send their entries, duly forwarded, directly to the Coordinator.
Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT) was established in the year 1984 by the great visionary late Dr. D.P. Khandelwal with active support from some physics teachers with the aim of upgrading the quality of physics teaching and physics teachers through a mass movement of dedicated teachers.
Since then it has grown into a major organization with more than 11000 members of which 7000 are Life-members, 65 are institutional membersd and about 100 of them from abroad. The members include research workers, science administrators, science savvy enthusiasts, university, college and school teachers.
Topic of Essay for both the categories – LASERS TODAY – A CENTURY OF EINSTEIN’S STIMULATING THEORY OF RADIATION
Participants are expected to build-up the theme properly and cover major aspects of the basic Physics and technological applications of Lasers. The essay will be limited to 08 pages including figures/tables etc, type-written in the Times New Roman 11-point fonts, with 1.15 spacing. All entries will be subject to the online plagiarism test. Hand written and/or scanned submission will be rejected. Only one entry per participant and at most two entries per institution may be submitted in a category.
All the RCs are requested to motivate participation from students and teachers in this national contest. The RCs will arrange a preliminary regional essay competition on the above topic, in the months of June-July, to select the top three participants for the final NCEWP – 2017. The entry will have to be forwarded through the Head / Principal of the institution, mentioning the category A or B, along with all contact details clearly. Retired teachers can self-attest their entry. All entries (in English only) will be scrutinized in all respects, and will be assessed by two evaluators.
Deadline for submission to the Coordinator NCEWP is August 01, 2017
Attractive cash prizes plus books / CD will be awarded to the winners separately in categories A and B. Details of the prizes will be decided in consultation with the judges of the competition. Results of the competition NCEWP – 2017 will be declared in the IAPT Bulletin, and will also be mailed to contestants. The prize distribution will take place as a part of the IAPT annual convention to be held in October 2017.
